First Encounter Assault Recon (FEAR) was originally a retail title that started a game series. It is now a free to play game on STEAM. There truly is a cooperative mode where human players battle against the computer controlled AI. However, the PvE or rather COOP is limited to four players. Other Multiplayer (MP) or rather PvP modes offer Death-match style game play, but this article is not even concerned with the MP mode.

The graphics are bit out dated, but by no means awful. The lower-end graphics and system requirements make it possible to play the game on almost any computer!

Usually F2P game developers or publishers are responsible for running game servers... such is the case with ZMR. However, players can create private game sessions once logged into the initial game server. As with most F2P games, a LAN option is not available.
