Experiences in Firefall (MMO RPG Action Game)

Firefall is an Action, Massively Multiplayer, RPG game that is free to download and play (F2P). It can be installed through STEAM (my recommendation) or as a stand-alone game install. There are a few downloadable content packages (DLC) that are available to purchase if you feel like spending some cash. But honestly, there is enough free COOP content to last a long time.

There are not many missions where the single player aspect is viable (solo not impossible, but extremely tough to complete without at least 4-5 other player2). So, team-play is heavily emphasized. Some missions even require membership in an Army and Squad participation.

Combat and Weapons:

Although Firefall is an MMO, the 3rd person combat action mechanic is comparable to retail 3rd person shooters such as Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Dead Space III. However, when you aim your weapon, you get a real first person view like in games such as Joint Ops AW2 and COD World at War.

The shire number of guns, abilities and other equipment might seem intimidating at first. However, since Firefall combat is a class based system (medic, recon, assault, etc.), the variety becomes narrowed depending upon the type of soldier you choose. Plus, your objective becomes focused more on upgrading and repairing the weapons and abilities that you have rather than obtaining new ones.

NOTE: Abilities = as in freeze grenades, special bullets, speed, strength, decoy, etc.






Graphics and RPG Elements:

On the RPG side, it's a bit reminiscent of Borderlands I-II and Dead Island concerning the questing, collecting items, upgrades and repairs and statistics on your weapons and abilities.

The system spec requirements are low, but the graphics are overall colorful and textured nicely. Of course, when SweetFX is applied, the graphics appear more crisp and vibrant.

Disable The Intro Movie:

When starting Firefall, the game plays a rather lengthy introductory movie.  After seeing it once, it is just  nonsense.  You could just hit the "ESC" and skip it, but that's extra effort on your part.  Why not automatically skip directly to the games login?

1. In your game install directory, find .  For example,

=> C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Firefall... firefall.ini

2 Open in a text editor and copy-paste the below code at the very end:
