Experiences in Doom 3 BFG Edition

Since Doom 3 BFG Edition came out four years ago, I was able to purchase it at a 50% discount during a STEAM Sale.  The BFG version is supposed to be a superior version of the original Doom 3.  Without going "in-depth," I can honestly say that in some respects it is, but not by much. Also, I should mention that if you are into classic 1990 era games, remastered of course, then Doom 3 BFG Edition also features Doom and Doom 2.


There are updated graphics and a shoulder mounted flashlight that make the overall game feel a bit updated.  But those two things are hardly enhancements.  After playing a couple levels, I realised Doom BFG Edition was practically a visual (and game mechanics) rehash of the same old Doom 3.  As far as enhancements go, Doom 3 BFG Edition screamed mediocracy at best.  

To make the Doom 3 BFG Edition worthy of my attention, I decided that this game needed an enhancement mod or two.  The Doom 3 BFG Hi Def Mod and Doom 3 Immersive HD Mod updated the weapon sounds, textures, and other graphics.  

With the mentioned mods, the game is worth a playthrough.  Follow the steps listed below;

Step 1. Buy Doom 3 BFD Edition (PC mods are free, but not PC game).
