***Updated 2016***

I never was a fan of the Warhammer 40,000 series of games.  Something about the clunky characters in a non-first person view just turned me away.  But then, I found out Warhammer 40k Space Marines took on a third person view and when it appeared in a STEAM sale.  Well, you guessed it, I bought it before the STEAM sale price disappeared.

My initial thoughts:

Price: The entire Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Collection at the time of this article, was $15.  But in 2016, you can find it for under $10.  The collection version includes the main game and all the DLC's as well.

Controls & Learning Curve: To be honest, the keyboard and mouse controls are not super intuitive and awkward at first.  However, the learning curve is nominal... minutes to get acquainted with the controls.  No prior knowledge of the Warhammer game world is required.  Just play and slaughter the Orc enemies.  Trust me, if you've played third person shooters in the past five years, you'll be playing this with ease.

Weapons: Guns, sword based weapons aid in your missions. to slice and dice enemy orcs.  So far I've used a jetpack, sniper guns machines gun, pistols, giant axes, a chainsaw-sword and a huge hammer to turn my enemies into a bloody pile of gooey meat parts.

Gameplay Modes:  Primarily Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine is a fantastic singleplayer experience.  However, there is a 4-Player Coop Mode available.  The coop mode amounts to wave based and arena style combat, which is fun every so often.

Graphics: For a 2011 game release the graphics are have aged nicely.  Of course, SweetFX makes the game graphics look even better.
